One Ordinary Family on an Extraordinary Adventure

One Year Traveling | Olivia’s Story | Learning Across America

This week, the family is taking over the Learning Across America blog. Each family member will be sharing their stories about our first year of full-time travel. Pull up a camp chair, and see what we’ve been up to.

So far, Olivia is the only one of our crew who has had the distinction of visiting a town with our last name (in 2006) and her first name as well (in 2014).

Olivia’s Story | One Year Traveling

Olivia2Hello my name is Olivia Godfrey. I am 11 years old. My family and I have been traveling for over a year now.  I did not want to go on this trip at all at first, but I found out later that I really love it; it really inspired me and changed my life. My family and I have not been in all 50 states yet, only 21 so far, but we’re getting there.

The second day (we were in Arizona) our RV broke down and we had to get to a mechanic. Guess what the mechanic’s name was– it was Chance! He helped us and fixed our RV, and we were off.

My favorite state so far would probably be Arkansas because of its open fields and beautiful landscapes. Also, we have awesome family there. I made lots of friends everywhere and learned how different people act and talk and I always miss them all a lot.

My second favorite state would be Texas. It’s so big and beautiful. We went to a RV campground called Lake Whitney where they play bingo on Saturdays, which is really fun for kids.

I have had a lot of fun so far and know there is a lot more to come in the future. I do not know how long my family and I will be on the road but I am wishing for only 3 years and then hopefully we will settle down in a house by then in… who knows were?

Hope you enjoyed!

I loved your summary of your trip so far! 3 more years!? I’ll be SO old by then and probably won’t be able to hear you tell me all about it. If I can hear you – I’ll be so old, I won’t be able to remember what you just told me and I’ll ask you to retell the same story over and over! Anyway- enough about how old I’ll be by the time you make it back to Cali – I love Bingo! I never seem to win – but I love it. I thought it was funny that your mechanic’s name was Chance. Ha! Good one! Thanks for sharing your stories. Miss you and your sweet smile! Keep enjoying your time with your family and keep writing!
